Wolves Basketball is one of the Sylvan Adams YM-YWHA’s longest running programs. Our Wolves Basketball program reaches over 600 youth every year. We run a competitive intercity, skill development and recreational basketball teams, a Jewish elementary school basketball league, camps, clinics and a spring league. Our recreational programs start at Grade 1; competitive teams run from grade 4 through CEGEP. You shouldn’t be surprised to know that many of our players and coaches think that we have the best basketball teams in Montreal.
The cornerstone of our program is the intercity basketball teams, which represent the Sylvan Adams YM-YWHA in the Montreal Basketball League, Ligue Metropolitaine de Basketball and the Ligue de Developpement de Basketball Mineur. Teaching the youth and giving them an opportunity is one of our primary goals, however respect and dignity is our focus.
Being on a Wolves team is a profound learning experience. In our program, kids build pride, confidence, a healthy lifestyle, exposure to a wider community, and the experience of pushing your limits as you work towards a common goal. A homework program and a #wedogood project are built into the experience.
We offer a unique basketball program for girls from grades 4-6 run by female coaches. The athlete/coach ratio is low, ensuring each girl gets the hands-on coaching she needs. Our girls develop confidence and assertiveness, in addition to becoming exceptional basketball players. There is no other girls basketball program like it in Montreal. #playlikeagirl
